FAQ: (in)Frequently Asked Questions

What's with the name, CuppaJoe Cozy? A "cup of joe" is slang for coffee; a cozy is something that keeps your drink warm.

What about Wradical Wraps? I liked the alliteration of CuppaJoe Cozy and I wanted to emphasize the political reasons for wrapping your coffee drink in something other than logo-spattered paper.

Where did you come up with the idea? I'm not the first person to knit coffee cup sleeves. I was inspired by other patterns, but wanted to use bulky yarn. I wanted something I could stash in a jacket pocket or in my purse so I would always have a Cozy available.

Why not just use the cardboard sleeves available? Several reasons, actually: 1. they aren't always available -- and I really object to double cupping 2. they are usually printed with advertising logos and 3. they are created for a single-use.

Who knits them? Right now, I knit every one I sell, but I do have other knitters on "stand-by" in case demand gets too high for me to supply alone. Each one takes me about half an hour to knit.

Why do the labels say 100% unknown fibre? Most often, the yarn I use is acrylic but since some of the yarn is reclaimed -- from sweaters or other knitwear -- or leftover from other projects and purchased in small lots. In these cases, I can't always guarantee what fibre is used. If you have sensitivities to certain fibres, let me know; I'll be happy to knit you cozies from a fibre of your choice.
